When I first arrived at my friend Valerianne's house to take her

Baby Bumps . . .

maternity photos I have to admit I was a little nervous. It's not like I was new to photography. On the contrary, I'd had cameras in my hands since my first summer school photography class when I was 8 and I had already photographed quite a few weddings with Dad. But this would be different. This would be intimate and personal.

As soon as our session was done I was hooked. Of course Valerianne was a beautiful subject so that made the day easy overall. But there's so much more to it than that. There is a glow of expectation and a look of joy and pride on a new mom's face as she looks down at her baby-to-be that make these such unique moments to capture.

There's also a real vulnerability in these women. There are few things more satisfying than having the opportunity to help a woman see just how beautiful her body is during this time.

Valerianne, thank you for having the confidence in me to let me photograph you when you were expecting baby Cole. It is a memory I will always treasure.
